AEC Students
The Writing Center supports students with accommodations verified by the Accessible Education Center (AEC). These other academic accommodations include access to additional tutoring time, e.g., one extra 45-minute weekly tutoring appointment for either in-person or online support.
Tutors at the Writing Center are trained to support SJSU students with varying writing needs and will liaise with the AEC when necessary for qualified guidance in helping students with accommodations.
Additional Tutoring Time Process
If the student is already registered with the AEC, they should go straight to Step 4.
Step 1: Student contacts the AEC
The student follows the AEC registration process, which can be found here.
Step 2: AEC contacts the Writing Center
Once the student has registered, the AEC notifies the Writing Center.
Step 3: Writing Center contacts the AEC student
The Writing Center emails the student with instructions on creating a WCOnline account to access tutoring support. If the student already has an account in WCOnline, we will email them instructions on submitting requests for additional tutoring time.
Step 4: Student submits the request for additional tutoring time
The student must have two self-booked appointments before submitting a request for the third appointment.
Each time an AEC student wants an extra tutoring session per week, they should check WCOnline for available slots and then submit their request using the form link below.
The Writing Center will check the schedule and book the appointment in WCOnline on behalf of the student. The Writing Center will contact the student with alternative options if the slot is no longer available.
